Our organisation targeted multicultural communities of London Borough of Barking and Dagenham. According to the London poverty profile, our target borough poverty indicators put Barking and Dagenham among the worse 4 Borough in London. Our target Borough scores the worse in the following poverty indicators: child poverty, unemployment, low pay per resident, landlord repossessions, mortgage repossessions, child obesity, limiting long-term illness, lacking qualification at 18 and LHA claims.
The plan to secure a bigger property to meet the need of growing people we are supporting from local multicultural communities, particularly from black and ethnic minorities who suffer mostly in poverty, isolated and without engagement with the local main service provision as result of lack of confidence or awareness of their rights and entitlements.
They have very low social mobility prospects, no access to employment, parents uneducated, poverty and intercommunity mistrust and prejudices.
New property to accommodate us for more rooms to operate than where we are at the moment.
Activities» We have involved other organisation who will support us financially to achieve and secured a property and will involving them in decision making.
What success will look like
We have 2/3 financial support at the amount of (£342,500) which has been approved after their assessement as result of acquiring the new community centre.
Presently we offer these figures which will increase with the new facility per year by the benefactors. 43 of isolated ethnic minority and migrant to access their social welfare rights and will increase to 120. Health access to specialist services to 24 members of local community, number will increase to 60. Provide work experiences to 12 people, number will increase to 45. Access to employment to 10 people, number will increase to 50. Improve basic skills for 20, number will increase to 60.
We realise a risk that one of our venue users may pull out which can affect our rent. We have extend the rent to include facility for conferences, birthday, wedding and other events that will generate revenue for the organisation, hence we have very luxurious and modern kitchen in place. We have competent and experienced management committee, we have internal systems and procedures that will enable the delivery of this project be qualitative and effective.
The Donors to this project will from time to time receive progress report which will details all activities as we go on and will be keep to date of any changes to the project.
