  • Need

    Need

Our vulnerable young people find it very difficult to find employment as they are least likely to have previous work experience, may have little or no qualifications, have low self confidence, low self esteem and need some support, encouragement, direction in a supportive training environment to build up their soft skills.

    Solution

We will provide emotional support, mental health support, catering training, voluntary work experience to young people who would like to pursue a career in catering and hospitality.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

To support at least 10 young people in the first 12 months in our new training kitchen in Lanark.

    Activities

» We have referral networks already in place to refer vulnerable young people to us.

We will follow our young people for around 2 years to ensure that once they have moved on from us, they are still moving in a positive direction.

  • Impact

    Impact

We will tackle the exclusion of our client group from the work place and will support them to turn their lives around and will advocate on their behalf as well as giving them the basic skills and training that they require to go out and find suitable full time employment. Their mental health will be improved, they will be more employable, they will be more confident, more skilled and more qualified as a result of spending time with us.

    Risk

Lack of funding for new equipment.
We have back up plans in place to purchase second hand equipment if we are still short of funding for our training kitchen.

    Reporting

We update our website, our twitter and our facebook regularly and donors can come and visit our sites and see what we do in action.

    Beneficiaries

The majority of our young people will have recently offended and will be housed in some of the most deprived areas in South Lanarkshire. They tend to have to live from day to day due to the limited resources at their disposal.
