  • Need

The tour will be an exceptional opportunity for the players to develop their talent and raise their aspirations. It will make an important contribution to cultural exchange between the UK and Denmark, bringing the works of the great Danish composer Nielsen to audiences in the UK and enabling young players from the UK to discover Danish music and culture.

The National Youth String Orchestra (NYSO) is the one of the UK’s most prestigious orchestral training organisations and the only one solely dedicated to the development of talented young orchestral string players. It provides specialist, high quality training, for talented young string players up to the age of 21, and gives them regular experience in the art of public performance, both in the UK and on overseas tours.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

To provide performance opportunities and specialist training to talent young string players

» Providing performance opportunities alongside specialist coaching by musicians with a lifetime of experience in the art of chamber music playing

    What success will look like

Providing venues to attract audiences to enjoy performances by National Youth String Orchestra

  • Impact

The quality of NYSO’s training has produced highly successful musicians such as Claire Jones, former official harpist to HRH The Prince of Wales as well as many others that are successfully forging a career in orchestral performance

funding is the biggest challenge as the tour presents higher costs than running a course in the UK. We are currently holding fundraising events.

Our donors will be invited to concerts in the UK and Denmark depending on their location to hear NYSO perform.
