  • Impact

    Impact

Long term changes will be the creation of a more community based site which will be proved by the usage of the facility as a whole. It will be aimed at the whole community, not just a few.
This initial project will be built on with bigger and more exciting projects so Brompton has a facility to be proud of.

    Risk

    Lack of funding.

  • Background

    Location

The village was an important centre for linen making and weaving in the 19th century with eight mills in the village at its peak in 1820[3] but declined by the early 20th century. The last mill was located in what is now the residential area of Linen Way. Bricks from the demolished chimney now form a memorial to linen workers which is situated on Water End Green, opposite the Village Inn. The village is now largely residential with just a few small businesses.

    Beneficiaries

There are no places around the area where children can safely ride their bikes. With the addition of a dual use track with distance markers this will appeal to people who either enjoy keeping fit or have the need to.
The play area improvements are a necessity due to the age of the equipment, it needs to be updated and improved to keep the local children's interest. We aim to provide a safe clean environment that the whole community can use for various functions as well as for sport and leisure.

  • Why Us?

    Why Us?

Brompton Recreation Group first started out as Brompton Recreation Association to bid for funding to build a new pavilion for the local football team Brompton Juniors on the same site. They where extremely successful. BRG is a new incarnation of the same charity carrying on where they left off. With the aim of improving the site and creating a lasting legacy for generations to come.
