We plan on providing youth of our local community with Summer programs. We hope to be able to provide for over 100 children aged 8-13 by giving them a structured program for the main weeks of holiday. It is hoped that the experience and new friends they make will provide them with a positive look

  • Need

Every year school holidays finds many children with to much time on their hands and nothing to do. This leads to gangs being created and children getting involved in destructive behaviour. This is especially true for children of lower income families, single parent families or children with a parent or sibling suffering illness. Watching their richer or better of peers going to exotic holidays odes nothing to boost their already low self esteem.

By filling the children's day with positive and educational activities, we shall be removing them from the street, keeping them away from negative influences, giving them a safe and structured place to spend their day and most important build their self esteem and confidence.
Experience over the last few years has shown us what a difference these two weeks can make to a child and feedback from parents and teachers has shown that their school work reflects this.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

To keep our children of the streets during school summer holidays and fill their days positively.

» 13 days of coach trips, on site crafts and educational activities.

We will know e have succeed when as in previous years we will fill all places and struggle to accommodate the many who apply for our scheme.

  • Impact

At Youth Direct we believe in Prevention rather than cure, this being it is very hard to pinpoint a success, but when we get positive feedback from Parents and school teachers we will know we are on the right track. Also when participants return to our all year round activities and work with our youth workers to succeed in school and life in general all will have proven worthwhile

The main risk we envision is if a coach company lets us down or we cannot find a suitable building to run the scheme. This has happened in the past but last minute we always have managed to come up with an alternative.

We report to our donors with details of the project and pictures.

  • Why Us?

    Why Us?

Our Charity was set up to fill a void in the local community due to the fact many of our members would not access other facilities due to cultural reasons.
Our charity has 11 years experience in ensuring that we are culturally sensitive to our members needs. We also have the advantage that we are not affiliated to any school, institution etc; a fact which can exclude some children.
We pride ourself in the fact that we include all sectors of the community.
