  • Need

    Need

The arts are at the heart of social communities, they are a vehicle for the imagination and they influence our attitudes to each other. At every level, participation in the arts, whether as an audience member or hands on participant, strengthens communities and enriches local life.
This fund will support existing arts activities and empower communities to initiate projects of their own.

    Solution

Arts for Change will provide a source of support that can be relied on, that is simple to apply for and that will make an impact on small scale grass roots community and arts organisations. The fund will be open to applications from charities, groups or individuals and will support artistic activity that is for the benefit of the community. This fund will support existing arts activities and empower communities to initiate projects of their own.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

Grow a long term fund through philanthropic donations to enable the arts to change local lives .

    Activities

» Gather donations and support from individuals and corporate sponsors who are passionate about the arts' ability to change lives.

Success will be receiving enough funds to distribute to the numerous small arts organisations in North Yorkshire who need support to continue to enable the arts to change lives.

  • Impact

    Impact

The fund will encourage members of the community to get involved in the arts, reducing the risk of rural isolation, anti-social behaviour and much more. It will also provide support for those living with illness, mental illness and disabilities to provide therapeutic value. Whether it is those with depression or dementia, those with physical or intellectual disabilities, or those in prison or imprisoned by their lives, the arts have the power to change.

    Risk

There is a risk that the fund may not receive the desired level of applications in its early months, however we have a marketing strategy in place to ensure the fund is properly publicised and reaches the desired amount of groups.

    Reporting

Funders of this project will receive updates via email reports and letters featuring case studies from projects that have received funding from Arts for Change.

  • Why Us?

    Why Us?

Many of the organisations or individuals doing great work with the arts as a medium for change are small, grass roots groups with limited capacity for the disproportionate time fundraising can take. Through our networks and straightforward approach to grant making we find amazing projects you might never even know about. The distributions team will have a vital bank of local knowledge about the applicants and be able to make informed decisions about supporting them.
