DOUBLE your donation until Sunday 14th December
MyBnk will deliver MONEY TWIST, a high-energy financial programme to young people. Every £20, doubled to £40, will equip 2 young people with real life money skills, including budgeting & saving, busting banking jargon, planning for their future financial needs, and avoiding unsustainable debt.
Please donate as soon after 10am as possible, as daily match funding is limited.
UK personal debt is at a record £1.4 trillion, around £9,000 per person; this is hardly surprising given that 90% of the UK population have never received any form of money management lessons.
Young people are not being taught the money skills needed in life, leaving them financially excluded and in debt. Half of 17 year olds are or have been in debt, and over a quarter of the UK population have no savings at all.
MyBnk will deliver its award-winning Money Twist programme, covering practical and everyday financial matters.
By creating a financially literate generation who are able to budget, break down jargon and assess risk, we will empower young people to take control of their finances, therefore reducing the risk of young people falling into the trap of unsustainable debt and a life of poverty.
To increase young people's financial capability and help them plan for their future financial needs.
Activities» Hands on activities including setting a weekly budget, prioritising needs vs wants, debating government expenditure and building their own bank.
Success will be measured through monitoring and evaluating the programme's outcomes and feedback from young people themselves.
Developing financial capability skills early in life will help young people to develop the confidence necessary to make informed financial decisions, and create an understanding of how the decisions they make around money will affect their futures. Through this project, MyBnk will work to equip young people with the necessary skills to deal with their personal finances effectively, and help them to avoid falling into debt or becoming financially excluded.
There is a risk that young people will not be engaged in a subject that they see as dry and dull. Our programme has therefore been co-created with young people to ensure that it is relevant and engaging to their peers. They advise us on the content of our programmes, visual design of our materials, and the delivery style of our trainers.
Donors to this project will receive a quarterly update outlining the positive impact of our work, including feedback from the young people themselves.

The need for financial education is universal. MyBnk is inclusive of all young people, but it is imperative that we also deliver to ‘harder to reach’ young people. Where possible, we therefore map delivery to ‘relatively deprived’ schools with a high percentage of free school meals.
We have a team of highly trained, specialist education officers who bring energy and excitement to financial education. They work with participants using games, videos, and examples drawn from their own experience and popular culture. Each education officer follows MyBnk’s SUPER methodology which ensures delivery is always Specialist, Unique, Participatory, Effective and Relevant. We take a holistic approach to education, catering for audio, visual and kinaesthetic learners.
