Charity information: My Sister's Place
We work with women aged 16 or over to support them and their children to live free from abuse. Domestic Violence affects one in four women in their lifetime and 2 women a week die at the hands of their current or former partner.
World Health Organisation statistics show that domestic violence is the largest cause of morbidity worldwide in women, more than war, cancer, car accidents
Teesside has high levels of domestic violence & we work with direct victims to increase safety.
We support over 1000 women each year through one to one support, counselling, educational women's groups and through criminal justice processes. But we want to do more;
The additional space will allow us to offer more
Counselling and therapeutic interventions.
In house women's groups
Increased access to immediate support
A video link to the courts so that women can give evidence in a safe environment.
Involve more people in tackling domestic abuse by increasing volunteering.
To increase the safety of women and children experiencing domestic abuse.
Activities» One to one support Access to immediate advice and support Support through the criminal justice system
success will be supporting 1200 families to live violence free
To improve the health and well being of women experiencing domestic abuse & promote independence
Activities» Through counselling and therapeutic interventions Delivery of in house womens groups.
Success will be more women living independently and reporting positive feelings about themselves and their future
The charities overall aim is to end domestic violence, we want to see a reduction in domestic abuse and more women coming forward and seeking help at an earlier stage,
Any delay to the expansion and development of the new premises will delay the delivery of increased services therefore we have temporary measures in place to ensure that service delivery continues however it is essential funds are raised to avoid any delay.
