Snowdrops Sensory Trail
We would like to put Braille and sound boards in and around our sanctuary, we have lots of educational information about the birds in the centre that sight deprived people could not read therefore making the information unavailable to them, we would also like to provide sensory items for our gardens
February 2015 - April 2015
Charity information: Suffolk Owl Sanctuary
We are trying to make our Sanctuary completely disabled friendly from physical and mental disabilities to sight and sound impairments. We educate children about the need for conservation of british Owls and Birds of prey but would like to include sensory educational materials within the Sanctuary. We work with lots of children who have different needs on a weekly basis and the numbers are increasing year on year as we are able to accommodate more complex issues regarding educational materials
We would be able to offer specialist equipment to cater for the blind such as braille boards also touch and feel displays which are of an educational value. We would also like to add a hearing loop in our education centre and put sound boards which will narrate educational information to deaf children. Our whole sanctuary is wheelchair accessible and we have one of the only purpose built disability play areas in our region purchased by fundraising
To install Braille signage and information boards around our Sanctuary for visual impaired people.
Activities» We will fundraise until we have enough money to start the project and add the Braille boards as and when we have the funds
To put a hearing loop in our education centre and the flying ground where we do narrated displays
Activities» Again we will hold fundraising events to raise the money
To instal a water feature, musical panels, and teacher corner in our gardens
Activities» We are hoping to gain the support of local craftsmen to help us create and design items to go into the gardens of educational value.
