Coaches for the Future Appeal
The railway needs to provide extra seating for our excellent dining train. Our Dining with Distinction product is now ready to be taken to the next level of fine dining and with the addition of three genuine First Class coaches our passengers comfort will be at its best.
August 2014 - August 2016
Charity information: East Lancashire Railway Holdings Company Limited
The current dining train is in need of upgrading in order to offer our customers the highest possible quality available. The First Class coaches will provide relief to current ones in service. The opportunity has also been taken to strengthen the Santa Special coaches in order to provide electric train heating.
The additional capacity will also allow for the expansion of the service during busier periods of the year, namely Christmas and special occasion dates as well as offering the dining train to new markets within the hospitality and functions industry.
The extra Santa coach will eliminate the need for preheating the sets with a steam locomotive and providing consistent heating throughout each set with consequent financial savings.

The success will demonstrated by the enjoyment of all who visit and sample the dining and Santa train. Its quality will improve which increase the overall quality of the trains.
The new carriages will allow for enhanced features along with us being able to offer a refreshed products.
The ELR provides over 100 Santa services and over 150 Dining services each year and so it is imperative that there is suitable coaching stock to fulfil our customer’s needs. The demand has been so much so that there has been a sharp rise in the number of services we offer. 2014 will see our most intense operating schedule possible as we continue to offer more trains for more people.
Both our Dining and Santa Trains are exceptional products which need to be safeguarded. By not investing in our carriage fleet would bring about risk and possibly the devaluing of the products.
The investment alleviates risk allows the ELR to provide its planned services in the future.
We have a robust donor management programme in place to keep donors updated through our website and e-newsletters.
