  • Need

The young people we are targeting are too poor to be able to experience any interesting or healthy activities in the long summer break. They live in overcrowded inner city Hackney, the 2nd most deprived area in England. Without our programme, 650 of them would be kicking their heels on the dusty inner city dangerous streets, at risk of anti-social or even criminal activities. Many of them are overweight or even obese. We plan to teach them about healthy food choices and provide them with fruits

By providing two weeks of exciting, informative, healthy and character building activities, both on and off-site, we will be transforming their summer holiday experience into one that will change their lives, both now and in the future. Experienced youth leaders and volunteers, all DBS checked will act as role models and support to attendees. The young people will learn new skills and interests, particularly focusing on healthy eating and lifestyles.

They will have greater enthusiasm for a wider range of activities and experiences.
They will have a greater understanding and appreciation of healthy life styles and healthy eating.

We ensure that all venues, both on and off-site, adhere to their Health and Safety Policies and are fully insured. Our staff are safely recruited, have DBS checks and followed up references. A qualified First Aider is in attendance at all times, with a properly equipped First Aid box.
All transport will be provided by reputable coach companies and we will ensure that passengers wear their seat belts.

  • Why Us?

    Why Us?

Up N Away is a grassroots organisation with the Trustees in close touch with the needs of its users. Since its inception, just 3 years ago, we have seen the number of users increase from an initial 50 to 600 this year, with a long waiting list. This provides overwhelming proof of the need and popularity of Up N Away and its projects.
