Boys On The Go
To give 600 disadvantaged young people aged 3-16 the experience of different physical activities in summer 2016. They will include canoeing, tree climbing, banana boat riding, raft building, snow tubing and tobogganing. We will also provide them with healthy refreshments every day.

Up 'N Away
The young people we are targeting are too poor to be able to experience any interesting or healthy activities in the long summer break. They live in overcrowded inner city Hackney, the 2nd most deprived area in England. Without our programme, 600 of them would be kicking their heels on the dusty inner city dangerous streets, at risk of anti-social or even criminal activities. Many of them are overweight or even obese. We plan to teach them about healthy food choices and provide them with fruits
By providing two weeks of exciting, informative, healthy and character building activities, both on and off-site, we will be transforming their summer holiday experience into one that will change their lives, both now and in the future. Experienced youth leaders and volunteers, all DBS checked will act as role models and support to attendees. The young people will learn new skills and interests, particularly focusing on healthy eating and lifestyles.
To broaden the young people's horizons, enabling them to taste and enjoy the beautiful wide world.

The 600 young people attending, will complete questionnaires addressing the aims we have enumerated and describing the changes they have experienced and through register taking.
To improve their social skills, self esteem and make new friends.
Activities» 6 drama sessions climaxing in a Show Case Event open to the public at the end of the project, including scenes focusing on healthy living and eating.
» Role plays, singing and music making competitions. Discussions and debates.
We will give out questionnairs and take photos of the young people involved in the social activities
Improve physical and emotional health and wellbeing.
Activities» Exercise and keep fit sessions, and Sports Day.
» Healthy living and eating sessions, followed by healthy lunches and snacks.
» Swimming, canoeing, kayaking, tree climbing, cycling and cross country hiking.
» Bungee trampolining and wall climbing, rope climbing.

The young people's performance in school will be better. They will report how their health and fitness has improved, as well as that they are more socially integrated, and have increased self confidence and self esteem. They will have greater enthusiasm for a wider range of activities and experiences.
They will have a greater understanding and appreciation of healthy life styles and healthy eating.
We ensure that all venues, both on and off-site, adhere to their Health and Safety Policies and are fully insured.Our staff are safely recruited, have DBS checks and followed up references. A qualified First Aider is in attendance at all times, with a properly equipped First Aid box.
All transport will be provided by reputable coach companies and we will ensure that passengers wear their seat belts.
Those donors who require formal monitoring will receive it.
For other donors, we will send a full report and evaluation of the project, together with a selection of photographs.

The project will be based in an Ofsted registered school in Hackney, London. This is the 2nd most deprived location in England and Wales, with a majority of families on means tested benefits, and few safe and appropriate play spaces. There is a higher than average child population of 65,000 0-19 year olds.
600 young people aged 3-16 years from ethnic minorities, disadvantaged by poverty, social exclusion and overcrowded housing, including refugees, and some with particular physical and emotional needs.
All of them lack opportunities for healthy exercise and an appreciation of healthy eating.
Up N Away is a grassroots organisation with the Trustees in close touch with the needs of its users. Since its inception, just 3 years ago, we have seen the number of users increase from an initial 50 to 600 this year, with a long waiting list. This provides overwhelming proof of the need and popularity of Up N Away and its projects.
