  • Need

Within North East Lincolnshire financial cuts in local government and the closure of sporting organisations and facilities has meant for most areas access to recreational activities such as we are providing is simply not available. Most individuals health and fitness is generally poor and visits to their GP are on the increase and obesity among young people is rising.Community members need to be inspired to think about getting more exercise and improving their general health and well-being.

We will begin to solve the problem by offering brand new innovative FREE recreational activities in local community venues making it readily available to all ages. Most of them will not realise the exercise that they will be getting as they enjoy this fun and rewarding activity. Alongside the sessions we will be offering support and advice on health issues through our local health and well-being coordinator in partnership with a wide range of local health partners.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

» Making available archery sessions within local communities settings

    What success will look like

We will record every sessions outcomes using our monitoring and evaluation tool Views which was developed by Substance.

    Aim 2

To begin to get individuals to think more about their health

» By getting them to take part in the community activities
» By helping them to develop, run and maintain their own community archery clubs thus achieving sustainability through the funding
» By offering alongside the sessions health advice and support from our Health & Well-being coordinator

    What success will look like

  • Impact

We hope to inspire as many young people and families to take part in a new fun and dynamic sport which will improve their health and well being. We will be constantly evaluating and recording the outcomes of the ongoing open community sessions which we hope to put on after the completion of this project.

We believe that there are no risks involved with our project as all qualified coaches who will be delivering the project work for our charity. We will ensure that we engage & Inspire as many residents as possible by promoting our project through social media, newspapers, radio and through our many partners who have access to well over 10,000 people within the North East Lincolnshire region.

Our donors will be invited to each session we put on and we will also provide each donor with a full report on completion of our project to make sure they no exactly how their money will make a difference.

  • Background

Our project will run in the North East Lincolnshire region delivering sessions in a variety of different venues which will be decided by the general public before starting the project.

North East Lincolnshire is identified as an area which suffers dramatically from economic and social deprivation and the current economic financial climate is making this situation worse. Many ward residents have minimal access to local sporting venues or innovative activities and exercise.

North East Lincolnshire is a relatively isolated Unitary Authority of 157,000 people and is ranked the 52nd most deprived area out of 354 districts on the Indices of Deprivation.
