The Eyegaze revolution

The Eyegaze is already changing the lives of some children in hospices.

This revolutionary technology works by tracking the movement of the user's eyes opening up a whole world of communication, play and development to some of the most disabled children in the country.

  • Need

    Need

Most children in hospices have a life-limiting condition and are not expected to reach adulthood. The vast majority of them will have severe and multiple learning and physical disabilities.

Their lives will be punctuated by strict medical regimes and dictated meal times, and their conditions will affect anything and everything from their speech, vision and hearing, to their dexterity and mobility.

    Solution

Technology like the Eyegaze provides opportunities for children in hospices that most of their peers would take for granted.

Because it relies solely on the movement of the user's eyes even some of the most disabled youngsters are able to create, communicate and take control.

We have already begun to provide this amazing technology at projects across the British Isles. Your donation will help us to continue the Eyegaze revolution.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

To provide a full Lifelites Eyegaze package, including training and support at one Lifelites project

    Activities

» With the money raised from the Christmas Challenge 2014 we will have enough money to install and train care teams to use this amazing equipment.

Success will be easy to identify: there will be a brand, new state of the art Eyegaze in a UK children's hospice.

  • Impact

    Impact

    Risk

True to the nature of technology, the package we provide for terminally ill and disabled children in hospices is constantly developing. There are innovations coming on to the market all the time which will help the unique audience we work with.

That’s why we cannot stay still and are determined that every child in every hospice has the chance to benefit from the opportunities to be creative, communicate and take control that our packages offer them and they wouldn’t otherwise have.

    Reporting

We'll let donors know as soon as we put an Eyegaze into a children's hospice.
