Cancer Break Through Documentary

Professor Angus Dalgleish of the Cancer Centre London is perhaps the UK's most respected Oncologist. He has made a huge break through in the treatment of cancer using LDN, a cheap un patented drug. We want to make a documentary to highlight this and tell the world.

    Need

    The average cost of cancer drugs in the UK is £30,000 a yr/person. LDN costs just £180 a year to treat cancer. The big pharmaceutical companies want this to remain a secret to protect their profits. We don't!! In the UK doctors are largely unaware of LDN and the fact that they can legally prescribe it. This is because it is out of patent and unprofitable so it is not yet marketed by anyone and awareness of the drug and its capabilities is lower than the rest of the world.

    Solution

    We seek to raise awareness of LDN (low dose naltrexone) amongst doctors and amongst cancer sufferers so they can ask their doctor about it. Awareness of the drug is heavily suppressed by drug companies protecting their profits at the cost of patients lives. We expect the documentary to be viewed by over 250,000 medical professionals and cancer sufferers in the UK and we expect the story will be picked up and broadcast by a major UK terrestrial channel quite quickly.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

    To reach as many medical professionals around the UK and beyond to educate them in the discovery.

    Activities

    » We will publicise the film by employing a PR agency to spread the word in medical media.

    We will make the film viewable on a specific web address that we can carefully monitor how many people have visited and watched the film.


    Aim 2

    We want to educate cancer sufferers and charities on this new discovery so that they can ask for it

    » We already have great links with the major UK cancer charities and they will help us promote the film to their user base with massive reach potential

    We will make the film available on major film platforms such as Youtube and Vimeo and we will have very clear usage information.


    Aim 3

    For the story to be picked up by major UK broadcasters/News channels and reach a wider audience

    » We already have good links with production companies and news outlets with interest shown already by the BBC once they see the film

    Clearly this is easy to asses as we will know whether they have made their own broadcasts on the issue.


  • Impact

    Impact

    On a macro level the film may stimulate a radical rethink in the way that cancer is treated in the UK. On a micro level it is expected that it will stimulate cancer suffering individuals to request LDN which may lead to a prolonged less difficult life. If this movement takes off then it will also save the UK tax payers millions of pounds that currently only go to drug companies.

    Risk

    The only risk that we foresee is failure to raise the required funds to make the film.

    Reporting

    We will send all donors usage stats from films viewed but we also anticipate receiving a huge, positive feedback. We will relay all feedback to donors so they can appreciate just what they have contributed to and how they have improved lives of cancer patients.

    Location

    The filming will take place largely in the UK with the possibility of one part being filmed in mainland Europe.

    Beneficiaries

    The beneficiaries of the project will be those people suffering from cancer and their families. Currently over 300,000 people a year are diagnosed with cancer in the UK. Over our lifetimes 1 in 3 of us will get cancer. This documentary could initiate a positive action in millions of lives. There is an alternative way to treat cancer. Let's shout about it.

    Linda Elsegod

    Linda runs the LDN Research Trust. She works tirelessly fielding enquiries from patients and doctors from all over the world spreading wider knowledge

    Robert Jones

    Robert is a filmmaker who previously made a documentary on how LDN assists multiple conditions. The film was widely acclaimed.

    Brian Holden

    Audio specialist who works closely with Robert Jones on a number of projects.

    Anna Addison

    Anna is a PR guru who has gained much national press for the LDN Research Trust to date.

This is one of the most relevant cancer break throughs in many years and the story needs to be told.
