Need
Need
Previous work has demonstrated the effectiveness of Summer schools and weekend workshops which give families access to knowledge, understanding and practical skills which are family centred.
Solution
Through interactive workshops involving their children; mothers, fathers, carers and extended family members are facilitated to learn from each other how to support their child's language, listening, cognitive development and personal well-being. The deaf children and their siblings are involved in a variety of social activities, supervised by experienced adults including young deaf adults who motivate and encourage the families as well as provide inspirational deaf 'role models'.
