Charity information: FUTURES UNLOCKED

  • Need

Ex offenders are given £46.75 when they leave prison and struggle to find jobs and can have little support when they are released which in many cases results in them returning to their old way of life and ending up back in prison.
The reoffending rate nationally is around 50-60% which results in a huge number of victims, fear of crime and a huge cost to the the government.

We aim to be one of the solutions to this by supporting ex-offenders through the prison gate and in their first few months after release. We offer volunteer mentors who support and signpost to the essential services they need in order to access accomodation, training, employment, substance misuse services, mental health services and other support services.
A recent study of our clients found that only 17% had re-offended after working with us which is a great result in reducing re-offending.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

    Provide opportunities to ex offenders
    Reduce Re-offending
    Reduce Crime
    Build Safer Communities

» Support and Signpost ex offenders as they resettle back into the community ensuring that have the best opportunity to change.

We will record the re-offending rates of the people that we work with and the intermediate outcomes of our work. We will provide both statistical evidence and case studies.

  • Impact

We will see a reduction in re-offending in the people we work with which will then result in less crime, number of victims and safer communities.
We will continue to record the re-offending rates of our clients and gain feedback from stakeholders in the community to assess whether they believe our project delivers long term success.

Risk posed to our volunteers. Detailed risk assessments are carried out before we agree to work with individuals to ensure our volunteers and staff are safe.
Change in Prison and Probation landscape. We are currently keeping adrift of the changes and keeping in touch with our connects so that we continue to be a flexible service.

We will produce a quarterly report and an annual report to all donors communication success and challenges and ensuring that they know that there money was invested wisely and has had an impact.
