to promote a better understanding of mental health and to reduce the misunderstanding, fear and stigma which surround it
We work in partnership with local service users, carers, voluntary and statutory organisations and mental health professionals, to offer information to all local groups in the community about mental health issues and the treatments, services and resources which are available. In addition, the week offers people a chance to explore and discuss issues in more detail and to ask questions of the people who really understand.
To break down stigma and inspire understanding about mental health and wellbeing
Activities» By providing a week that has over 50 individual events which cover a wide range of subjects relating to mental health.
on an annual basis our project has developed and changed how people see mental health, we feel has had a positive impact on the local community and how they see mental health.
We hope that this project will break down stigma and inspire understanding about mental health, helping people experiencing mental health issues to play a fuller role in society.
We want to encourage, champion and support people with mental health issues (whether or not their condition has been diagnosed) and ‘signpost’ them towards organisations and services which could help them to improve their own mental health.
With over 50 events there is a risk that there may be cancellations or delays. With experience from previous years we have been able to ensure that this has not caused inconvenience and alternatives activities have been put on.
Over the year we have regular planning meetings and this enables us to keep a close eye on any risks and find a solution where possible.
We will report to donors on the week as whole and also by activity.
We ask all visitors to complete evaluation sheets which are then analysed and feed back to the board of trustees. Following this a report would be sent to donors.

Our activities are based in Epsom Surrey, Population of 75000 approx with over 30,000 Households. We try and reach other areas and boroughs in Surrey. Epsom has a long association with mental health as in the early 1900's we had five psychiatric hospitals and many local people where employed to work at these.
We also use social media to reach as many people as possible with this new media.
We feel that the community as a whole will benefit from our project.
For people experiencing mental health issues we hope that we will offers a chance to explore and discuss issues in more detail and to ask questions of the people who really understand. Although this is a challenging and difficult subject, there is also an opportunity to relax, meet others and participate in enjoyable activities
We have been organising Epsom Mental Health Week since 2008 and each year it develops and changes. We feel that our experience enables us to provide a unique event and allows us to reach out to individuals, families, carers, proffessionals and provide an environment for discussion and conversation.
