Greeniversity is a community skills project that teaches people how to live in a way that values their environment. By creating groups in local communities we bring together people with interesting skills to share.
Charity information: Peterborough Environment City Trust
We know that people in the UK are using three times the resources that the planet can provide. This is because people are leading busy lifestyles, seeking convenience and don’t see how their everyday actions make an impact on the environment.
We create groups in local communities that bring together people with interesting skills to share. And they run classes that help people learn useful and practical skills that they can use straight away. And these skills enhance their lives and preserve the environment.
Greeniversity provides a way to involve thousands more people in the environment.
By 2016 we will have 250 thriving Greeniversity groups around the UK.
Activities» We will work with regional co-ordinators to find local people and groups who can set up Greeniversity in their area, and support them to do this.
What success will look like
Success will be having 250 groups by 2016.
Long term, we will have created communities which use fewer natural resources and value their environment.
We will measure the impact of learning these important skills through our website, and be able to say how much C02 we save.
Greeniversity relies on active people in their local community to set up and run groups.
We have worked over the last two years to test how to make this work, and use regional co-ordinators to identify people to set up groups, and provide ongoing support to keep them motivated.
We currently employ four regional co-ordinators across the UK, supporting 110 groups to set up.
We will keep you updated through our regular newsletter and good news stories on our website.

Greeniversity takes place in local communities around the UK. Right now we have 110 groups being set up and established groups in Peterborough, Manchester, Bristol, Cambridge and Cardiff.
Greeniversity benefits people, communities and the environment.
People by helping them learn new skills, build confidence in meeting new people, and connecting with their local community.
Communities by encouraging people to come together and learn from each other.
The environment by making people more aware of the impact they have on the environment, and helping them live in a way that has less of an impact.
Greeniversity is run by an environmental charity that has 20 years experience delivering Government endorsed and award-winning projects both locally and nationally.
Peterborough Environment City Trust has been developing Greeniversity, working closely with partners, communities and national networks to find out how we can make a real difference.
