    lack of ability to use the internet and new technology by older people


    providing peer support for older people to find out more about the uses of the internet and encourage them to get on line.

    to get older people online and using the internet to remain independent


    » loan new technology, free broadband and volunteer support to housebound older people without ability to access the internet by other means
    » create drop in digital sessions/classes that active older people can access close to home

    quanitative data and case studies to provide qualitative data to demonstrate the number of older people purchasing new technology and braodband access

    long term access to the internet to participate in e-government, online purchasing, social networks, skype and e-mail to keep older people socially included even when housebound

    in and around Carmarthensire


    older people aged 50+ who are technologically unaware. These will be housebound older people the majority of whom are women aged 70+. They will also be people who have not had the finances or opportunities to learn about the internet or feel that it is hard to learn or beyond them.
    Population is approximately 68000+ older people out of approxiamtely 180000 residents of Carmarthenshire, 25% above national average of older people for Wales. 6 areas of deprivate according to Wales index

    we are the premier older persons charity. We also currently have small digital inclusion projects which are proving popular and we cannot cope with demand. We are recognised by the statutory and voluntary sector as being the best placed to provide support to older people in this area. we have more than 3000 enquiries to our organisation, for and about older people, per year.
