The Philippines Emergency Appeal

This is an emergency appeal. More than four million people are now thought to be caught up in the aftermath of the devastating Philippines storm. Hundreds of people are known to be dead - but it is feared more than 10,000 may have been killed in one city alone.

  • Need

There are more than half a million people who have lost their homes and urgently need support. The most pressing needs include access to clean water, food and emergency shelter to protect them from the elements. All of the areas where Plan Philippines’ works, which are home to about 40,000 sponsored children, are affected by Typhoon Haiyan. We know from more than 50 years of experience working in the Philippines that when disasters hit, they always hit the most vulnerable the hardest.

Help us deliver urgent emergency relief to children and their families in the wake of Typhoon Haiyan by making a donation.

  • Impact

The project will help the families affected by Typhoon Haiyan rebuild their lives.

The devastation caused by Typhoon Haiyan has washed away bridges and blocked roads, creating problems for much of the transport infrastructure. That means there is a limited capacity to get aid to those in need – at the moment only small amounts can make it through by air.
A land route needs to be created before larger quantities of aid are able to make it through. Plan are hugely experienced in working in emergency situations and know how to handle distributions in difficult volatile areas.

Donors to this project will receive a thank you letter and appeal progress updates will be loaded up onto our website and Facebook pages.
