Netteswell Neighbour is a magazine designed to strengthen the sense of community in the Netteswell Ward of Harlow and therebye reduce social exclusion, increase community cohesion and meet community needs through the community.

    Through news and articles from local people and organisations and events advertised in the magazine, people will begin to identify with the area more, will get to know their neighbours and be more willing to volunteer for projects that deal with local need.

    Attendance of at least 500 people at activities and events advertised in Netteswell Neighbour within the next year

    Reduce isolation, particularly of the elderly.

    Registration of 10 people for 'Dial a Neighbour' (a service supporting those who live alone) over the next year.

    See at least 10 local volunteers engaged in services and events within the local community.

  • Impact


    Increased identification with and responsibility for the area, improved relationships between neighbours, reduced anti social behaviour, improved well-being. Demonstrated by the level of attendance at community events, reduction in crime and number of services providing support for those within the community.


    Lack of funding - dealt with by Freshwaters Christian Fellowship underwriting the first 1500 copies.

    Poor quality production or content - dealt with by editor and proof readers.

    Netteswell Ward in Harlow is the second most deprived ward in the town with a population of around 7,442 people, with 17% over the age of 65.

  • Why Us?

    Why Us?

    We have a committed group of volunteers who regularly engage with the local community motivated by their faith. We have good relationships with other churches, charities and the statuary sector in our town, we understand the needs of local residents and are ready to work with others to provide innovative solutions.
