Much Needed Rescue Shelter
As there are currently over 3,500 dogs on the streets in Goa, we are desperately seeking funds to build a rescue shelter. Many of the animals are abused, neglected and starved. This will help International Animal Rescue Goa as they are heavily burdened with animals and conservation of wild life.
As long as it takes us to collect enough funds to build a rescue shelter. Firstly we have to acquire or rent a place to build the shelter. This cost is estimated at approx £ 50,000 to £ 60,000
Protection of Animals against Neglect and Cruelty
We are trying to solve the hunger, thirst, abuse and injuries to animals on the streets. Many need spaying or neutering. People need educating on animal welfare and animal rights issue. Children in schools need educating that it is not right to hurt them and throw stones at them. Many a time they are poisoned and thrown in rivers. Sometimes people light bonfires to kill the pups. People are afraid of them or consider them unclean. Occasionally people get bitten with a risk of rabies.
The project will alleviate the suffering and misery of animals from hunger and disease. Diseases such as rabies can also be restricted. The rehoming centre will provide a haven for the injured, blind and deaf animals Diseases such as scabies and mange can also be treated.. the ones that have been abandoned and are suffering from malnutrition can be rehabilitated. Very often one can see their flesh close to their ribs with wounds as they have been moving in packs and fighting for scraps in bins
