  • Need

Latin and Classics is largely associated with privilege and wealth, and very many children and adults have no opportunity to learn about the ancient world and its languages, and may feel intimidated by the topics.

We are founding a new local learning space, which will offer a range of free workshops, courses, exhibitions and more to all ages in the community. We will also house a large lending library and many original and replica artefacts!

  • Aims

    Aim 1

To make learning about classics accessible to the local community at all ages

» Free and friendly workshops, activities, courses, as well as books, artefacts and other items.

    What success will look like

High levels of participation in the various things the centre offers, and positive feedback from participants.

  • Impact

More local people, adults and children, having a knowledge, appreciation and confidence in the ancient world. The centre being used and feedback being positive. More children wanting to study the subject to exam level, and more people visiting museums and continuing their knowledge acquisition beyond the centre's offerings.

The space is fully insured under the host schools public liability insurance. All staff and volunteers are CRB checked and trained.

Yearly evaluation report, including full details of project and feedback.
