  • Need

    Need

A large part of grieving is finding ways to talk about and remember the special person who has died. When someone dies, they leave large empty spaces and broken hearts. Grief Encounter develop creative ways to help fill some of those spaces and help children find ways to find a special place in their hearts for those who are no longer here. Every half an hour in the UK, a child will lose a parent.

    Solution

The star project will involve being able to find and name a star on the website . In addition, children will be able to request a specialist product which will contain star making products, a guide to the sky, ways to talk about the dead person and help them come to terms with their loss and have fun again.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

To increase Grief Encounter's specialist bereavement support

    Activities

» To create a \"star activity\" on the Grief Encounter website and a new star based products for grieving children.

    Improved website
Increased access to the focused areas
Star products created and sent out.

  • Impact

    Impact

The project will attract new bereaved families to both Grief Encounter and to the website. The contact will allow access to our other support services. Existing families will have another way of remembering and connecting with their loved ones, reducing their isolation and coming to terms with their loss.
Success will be measured by the creativity of the products, the number sent out (500) and feedback from the clients who have used the service.

    Risk

There may be no demand for the products, but this is highly unlikely as Grief Encounter work so closely with bereaved children now. The website already has a large number of unique visitors and sound links developed over the last 10 years. Grief Encounter can also market out the new projerct through their exiting channels. In addition, other similar projects have had great success (Bad Time Rhymes Poetry Competition)
