Teacher Stress and Wellbeing Workshops

Teacher Support Network knows that workload, stress and difficult relationships are problems that teachers have to deal with on a daily basis. Often teachers struggle in silence and only contact us when the situation becomes far too much to deal with alone. We want to help.

  • Need

    Need

Teacher Support Network knows from calls to our Support Line and through our online coaching that workload, stress and difficult relationships are still real problems that teachers have to deal with on a day to day basis. Often teachers struggle in silence and only contact us when the situation becomes far too much to deal with alone.

    Solution

Through our workshops, we want to talk to teachers before things get bad and give them the skills to identify and manage behaviours, patterns or triggers that could lead to problems in the future.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

Improve the health and wellbeing of working teachers

    Activities

» Help teachers find mechanisms to cope, look at the causes and symptoms of stress

Through a survey workshop attendees will be asked if they feel they have improved their personal health and wellbeing.

    Aim 2

Provide a teacher with the skills necessary to identify and combat stress

    Activities

» Increase knowledge of stress and help teachers to identify their own triggers and reactions to stress and anxiety

Workshop attendees will be asked if they are now using the skills gained from attending to combat stress in their working lives, three months after attending.

  • Impact

    Impact

Attendees of the workshops, will still be positive and actively using the skills gained twelve months after attending. This will be surveyed. In addition, the number of general support calls to TSN Support Line will increase in comparison of 'crisis' calls by 5% by the end of 2014.

    Risk

    Lack of workshop attendees
promotion via Teaching Unions, Local Authorities and other teacher networks should alleviate this risk

    Reporting

Donors will receive a termly newsletter and electronic updates throughout the year.
