  • Need

The children in our care are amongst the most severely disabled in the UK many have had a terrible accident or sudden illness. The Children’s Trust believes that every child deserves the chance to reach their maximum potential and lead happy and fulfilling lives.

The Children’s Trust offers a fresh start for children who need to re-learn skills that may have been lost as a result of their accident or illness. It is essential to their rehabilitation process that we are able to provide a Hospital Play Specialist who can help these children reach their full potential and have fun again through a sensory curriculum of activities

  • Aims

    Aim 1

To increase the effectiveness of each child's brain injury rehabilitation programme via play.

» To provide a tailored play programme to fit each individuals child's needs.

We monitor the children's outcomes via confidence levels, goals achieved and developments made in therapy and education sessions. Also exit interviews.

    Aim 2

Enable the children to integrate back into the community and cope with social situations.

» Organise external trips to a range of venues such as leisure parks, farms, cinemas.

We record the number of children that have been able to go back back home and go back to school and keep track on numbers that are reintegrated back to community.

  • Impact

We hope to involve more staff and volunteers more involved with children's activities and introduce a budding scheme . The budding scheme will help improve techniques of communication with the children

This project is entirely funded by voluntary income so risk is we do not get funding. We would look at other streams of funding to cover this costs.

We will provide quarterly updates with a list of all activities and trips that have taken place that quarter. We will provide case studies and where appropiate photographs of trips and activities.
