Kampala Music School - Orchestral Rehearsal Room
A specific rehearsal room, large enough to hold an orchestra in Kampala Music School, would provide young underprivileged Ugandan people with a safe place to rehearse and perform music. Children will be able to join together and harness the energy of music. It can also be used as a seminar room
Charity information: Friends Of Kampala Music School
At present there is nowhere in the School big enough for a full orchestra to rehearse. As a result these underprivileged students are not discovering the true value of playing instruments with others or gaining the confidence that playing in a group gives you. There is also no space big enough to perform before an audience. This room could also be used as a seminar room internally and externally.
It will give young dedicated Ugandans a space to rehearse and perform orchestral pieces to an audience providing them with a safe centre to build self confidence and hope amongst young Ugandans to learn and play classical music.
To provide an Orchestral Rehearsal Room
Activities» By adapting the School through a refurbishment project to provide this space big enough for the Orchestra to rehearse and perform in.
What success will look like
By using the room for orchestral practice and performances in front of audiences made up of the residents of the surrounding area and visitors to the school.
To nurture the next generation of talented musicians in East Africa.
Activities» By continuing to expand the School so that the gift of music can be brought to many more students in Uganda for generations to come.
What success will look like
By using the room to teach and enhance the musical ability and confidence of these young Ugandans often from the backdrop of a fairly bleak existence.
The School will have a permanent room to be used for rehearsals and performances as well as, seminars. It can also be rented out to outside groups and therefore will produce income to help the school flourish. The success will be demonstrated by the performances and meetings held in it, both internally and externally.
Lack of funding. By establishing Friends of Kampala Music School as a fundraising charity for the School. Fundraising is regularly evaluated and monitored.
Through regular evaluation reports. We have a website which will be regularly updated with progress, and also we are on Twitter and have a Facebook page where progress reports will be given. Of course if donors wish to email for a progress report, we will answer those too.
