Connecting End of Life Care & a Natural Enviroment
To create a usable space including a pond and nature interpretation area, alongside our new building which houses complementary therapists, counselling services and out patient departments to enhance the experience for our patients who are suffering from life limiting illness.
March 2014 - July 2014
Wigan & Leigh Hospice
As our new building will house therapists, counselling and out patient departments it is important to our patients with life limiting illness that the external environment is as calm and tranquil as the internal one in the new building. When the building is finished the area around it will need to also be transformed
The project will allow us to a quiet sanctuary including a pond, seating area, landscaping and nature interpretation area to attract birds & other wildlife where our patients can feel calm and relaxed and spend quality time with their families or just enjoying nature both before and after appointments. This will allow us to provide a beautiful external setting once our new building is completed
To provide a pond & nature area for Hospice patients who are receiving treatment.
Activities» Landscape pond & surrounding area inc benches & wildlife interpretation. To complement our new building housing Complementary therapists, counselling
When the area is used by patients and their families providing pleasure by connecting with nature in a calm environment.
The Hospice will appear more welcoming and therefore improve the quality of life for our patients and their families even though that may be a short time. Often patients are frightened of taking that first step and a beautiful external environment should help encourage more local people to benefit from the services that the Hospice provides.
No risk involved
