KLL Vocational Ballet Scholarship Appeal

KLL and LRBS provide a pathway to Russian vocational ballet training for children who might not otherwise have exposure to ballet. We would like to make available several full scholarships to deserving and talented children covering tuition fees, A Level studies and accommodation where appropriate.

  • Need

A number of talented children usually identified from outreach are unable to take advantage of the pathway to a career in dance that we offer. We would like to be able to offer several full junior scholarships (under 16s) as well as senior vocational scholarships covering ballet tuition, 3 academic A Level subjects and accommodation where appropriate. It is vital that senior students pursue rigorous academic studies not only to make them proper artists but to give them the best career platform.

We will remove this barrier to continued ballet training by providing a number of children whose families are unable to afford vocational training with full scholarships. Our senior vocational students will be able to continue with their academic studies alongside their vocational ballet training and consistent outreach and theatre performances throughout the year. It will give them the best start in working life whether as a dancer or not.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

Enable children to continue their ballet training irrespective of their family’s ability to fund it

» Cover the full cost of ballet tuition and accommodation where appropriate

    What success will look like

Success will be measured by an increased number of children continuing with vocational training at LRBS and the number of senior students achieving 3 A Levels with good grades

    Aim 2

Enable senior students to continue with A Level education in parallel with full time ballet training

» Cover the full cost of tuition in 3 A Level subjects

    What success will look like

Success will be measured by an increased number of children continuing with vocational training at LRBS and the number of senior students achieving 3 A Levels with good grades

  • Impact

Expect to see the scholarship children complete their vocational training and be able to work as dancers who are fully formed confident artists. LRBS will train confident artists who want to learn. The academic study will increase choice after a career in dance or in case a dance career is not possible. Some students will progress to university study an option not elsewhere available.

There are no risks identified that could affect this project.

KLL and LRBS regularly update their website on activity undertaken and produce a regular newsletter. Individual donors are updated twice a year from the individual students who write a report, the donors are also invited to a class to see the students' progress.

  • Why Us?

    Why Us?

KLL is unique in that it is not just providing a one-off introduction to ballet. Working with LRBS, which provides the outreach performers, KLL delivers a continuous pathway for children either to weekly enjoyment of ballet or serious vocational Russian Ballet training. This opportunity is made available to children regardless of background or means.
