Linda Clinic Expansion - Zambia
The Happy Africa Foundation, in partnership with the Ministry of Health, aims to develop Linda Clinic into a three ward district hospital. Set in a densely populated area the hospital will help lower infant mortality and offer a higher level of medical care to the residents of the Linda community.
Charity information: The African Impact Foundation
Linda Clinic is unable to handle the number of patients that need treatment in the area. Transferring patients to Livingstone General Hospital means that the waiting times at the hospital are exhausting and that the level of care that the understaffed and unsupported hospital team can provide is often lacking. Furthermore, many people are unable to travel to Livingstone and so simply do not get treatment, instead continuing to suffer as their condition worsens.
The Ministry of Health has identified a need for a new district hospital. The project aims to transform Linda Clinic into a three-ward district hospital that will be able to provide the surrounding communities with better support and access to more extensive health care. This will involve the building of three wards – female, male and children’s – as an extension to the current out-patient clinic.
Build a three ward hospital
Activities» Build the three wards
» Put up the necessary security
» Work with the ministry of health to ensure the hospital is up and running
What success will look like
Sucsess will be achieved once the building is signed off by the department of health as suitable as a hospital
The long term changes will be improved medical care fore local residents. This will be demonstrated through:
1. Lower mortality rate
2. Lower baby and child mortality rate
3. High level of child vaccinations
The risk is that the department of health could re-neg on their agreement to furnish the hospital and provide all necessary staff and equipment. To deal with this we have signed a detailed contract outlining both parties obligations and expectations.
Donors will get a by monthly update, plus regular updates on social media and the wed page.
