Re-Usable Pad for a Village girl.

AMFI works mostly in rural areas of Zimbabwe, and townships in South Africa, DRC. We combine learning, mentorship and earning opportunities which offer girls and their families’ long-term solutions to poverty. We work hard to ensure girls access the education they are entitled to.

  • Need

Due to menstrual challenges girls stay out of school in some cases this leads to school drop-outs. Menstruation is a sensitive and taboo issue to talk about openly mostly in the rural communities in Africa so girls do not know what to do and how to take care of themselves during that time of the month.

Create menstrual hygiene awareness through training teachers and women. Address the issue in the rural communities to prevent absenteeism and drop-outs caused by the lack of sanitary wear by helping the communities to learn how do design their own re-usable sanitary wear.

  • Impact

Through our Give her diginity back campaign girls will be able to stay in school. This will enable them to raise academic performance, restore dignity and self esteem which will ensure better future and economic empowerment for the girl child in the long run.

There is a risk that one or some of the girls can develop infections due to cleaning and drying their sanitary towels. But we have done the training that will enable girls to take care of their re-usable sanitary towels.

Funders of this project will receive a monthly newletter on the project detailing the ongoing and forthcoming activities, and any necessary changes that have been made to the project plans.
