Legal aid to help the needy in Mityana, Uganda, Africa.
Help for prisoners get justice in courts, inform families that erson has been imprisoned, knowing legal rights, land rights for widows, children rights club

  • Need


    Informing people of their legal rights as many are unaware and the justice system is not explained. People often imprisoned for small offences and not told of right to appeal or bail.
    Children who are abused don't know where to go for safety.
    Helping women imprisoned and children left and pregnant women in prison.


    Have guidance talks in prisons, take on representation for those where there is definite injustice.
    Informing relatives of imprisonment of person and ensuring children are being cared for.
    Establishing peer group representation at schools for youngsters to inform authorities of child abuse. ensuring children know of safe local places.

    Legal Counselling – Counselling & Guidance to convicted prisoners and those on remand.

    What success will look like

    Convicted satisfied with judgment by court. Remand been to court and were aware of what was happening during the proceedings. All prisoners had chance to go to a court of law.

    3. Court Representation


    » Legal aid team will help prepare the defendant for court

    What success will look like

    Legal representation was provided to some remand prisoners at Mityana Chief Magistrate’s Court, and also at Kakindu, Mwera and Mubende courts.

    Establishing child's rights group


    » Discussion with children and parents at schools and informing children of their legal rights

    What success will look like

    Children will be asking for help

  • Impact


    Those prisoners who are wrongly jailed will be freed.
    Many will understand the justice system.
    Less children are hiding from abuse and will be open to ask for help


    That there will be far more cases than we can deal with and people hope that you can solve their problems.
    Have to prioritize and inform those seeking help that you may not be able to solve their problems.
