Social Isolation is rising in the UK people of all ages are becoming more isolated through circumstance; relationship breakdown, redundancy, lone child families and many more.
Providing inviting safe spaces for people to meet and connect by doing a positive creative activity which has the potential for lifelong learning.
To reduce social isolation through the use of organised play.
Activities» Organise and facilitate public game playing events to promote our aims and recruit community players.

» Create a social networking site to promote our aims and recruit community players.
Increased engagement of community players from all the different intergenerational groups. Also feedback from the organisations involved in the project.
To increase intergenerational Play
Activities» Work with schools, young peoples services to play games from around the world.
» Work with older peoples groups and organisations to play traditional games from around the world.
» Facilitate joined up workshops with older and younger groups to encourage intergenerational play.
Numbers of local organisations wanting to be involved in the communities play project will be an indicator of our success.
To increase self esteem and confidence by sharing global games.
Activities» Invite people from the UK's diverse communities to share their favourite games at events.
» catalogue the games from around the world to be played by communities in future generations.

Increased community participation demonstrated through membership of our project but also of the partners organisations.
One risk could be retaining community players within the project to develop a community of like minded people. We have dealt with this by creating social networking links to nudge players to keep connected, also we will use very public spaces, cafes, libraries to host game playing so interested people will always be reminded of the opportunity for positive interaction in their community.
Donors will be able to follow the progress of the project through the social networking site with regular updates from projects and feedback from community players. Donors will also have access to the growing collection of traditional games from around the world.

Communities in hackney, Islington and Tower hamlets
In 2012 UBG have delivered intergenerational game playing events in public spaces, on estates and in parks across Hackney. The events have brought together people of all ages from all sections of Hackney's diverse communities, reduced street drinking and created an environment where the local people feel safer and more confident to get involved.
