Project information

Funding for Bible Explorer Presenter Training

Bible Explorer Presenters are volunteers who go into their local primary schools and teach the story-line of the Bible in a fun and interactive way. Bible Explorer is taught exclusively to Key Stage 2 pupils (aged nine to eleven years) to fit in with each school's locally agreed RE Syllabus.

For as long as Presenters are given access to local primary schools

  • Need

Many children don't go to Sunday school and as a result have very little knowledge of the Bible. Most children go to school so the best way is to teach the 'Big Picture' of the Bible in their primary schools to Years 5 and 6 just before they make the transition to secondary education. It is at that stage that they are most receptive. The Bible Explorer lessons are non-denominational and non-conversionary.

Since our schools ministry began in 1996 hundreds of thousands of schoolchildren have been taught the Bible Explorer programme. We have now reached the milestone of half a million children taught but our aim is to reach every child in Years 5 and 6 of every primary school. In order to teach many more children we need to keep training new Presenters to expand the teams in Ireland and the UK.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

To expand the team of Bible Explorer Presenters by holding more training courses.

» Hold training courses bur keep our training costs to an absolute minimum to encourage as many as possible to attend.

    What success will look like

By the greater number of training courses held every year and the greater number of pupils being taught the Bible Explorer programme.

  • Impact

The charity is making a contribution towards the spiritual and moral education of children as they grow into adulthood by providing a spiritual and moral foundation for people's lives which can result in the betterment of society.

That in some areas the Bible Explorer programme may no longer fulfil some of the requirements of the Locally Agreed Syllabus on Religious Education and the Presenters may no longer be invited into the schools concerned. We need to make the most of the opportunities available while the door of those schools are still open.

We send out a monthly e-newsletter to supporters which can include the current news and future development of Bible Explorer.

  • Why Us?

    Why Us?

The Bible Explorer programme has been taught since our schools ministry started in 1996. We already have a team of about 300 volunteer Presenters actively teaching in their local primary schools in the UK and Ireland, some of whom have been teaching in the same schools for many years. We have experience in training new Presenters to continue our aim to teach the Bible Explorer programme to every Year 5 and 6 pupil in every primary school.
