Maintaining independence for the elderly

The big idea is to keep our Day Centre open and running for the over 60's. Our service helps them maintain their independence in their own homes and to safeguard against possible hospital admissions. Our service helps social contact - interaction with others (preventing isolation).

    To prevent the elderly from being isolated and to prevent against possible hospital admissions and care homes.
    To improve their mobility and mental health and well being.

    Solution

    Armchair exercise sessions help to maintain and improve body condition and help to reduce the risk of falls.
    Mental stimulation is provided through weekly quiz and emphasis placed on memorabilia including memory quizzes, memorabilia sessions and Old Time Music.
    Our three course lunch enables people to eat nutritiously.
    Our service helps social contact, interaction with others and opportunities to make new friends (preventing isolation).
