M.E. (sometimes diagnosed as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or CFS) is a chronic, fluctuating illness affecting 250,000 people across the UK. Symptoms include persistent exhaustion, muscle and/or joint pain, sleep disturbance, feeling ’flu-like and having problems with memory and concentration. 25% of people with M.E. are housebound. People with M.E need information and support to help deal with their situation.
Our Support Programme provides a comprehensive service that alleviates suffering financially and emotionally, and responds to a critical lack of appropriate health service provision. Its key elements are aimed at providing: Emotional and Practical Support, Welfare Rights Advice, Connecting people for Peer Support, and being a Major Provider of M.E. Information.

We will demonstrate the success of this project by montioring the number and content of enquiries to the M.E Support Line and working to increase the number of calls taken. We receive regular feedback of thanks from callers stating what a difference the information provided has made to them and their families / carers.
The number of calls received exceed the hours that the support line is actually operating. Any calls received out of hours will receive a message with operating hours and asked to call again following day.
