Age UK Norfolk's Care Home Advocacy Service provides independent advocates to help older people living in a care home. We will provide a flexible service which meets the needs of residents in care homes resolving issues of concern.

    We will provide a flexible service which meets the needs of residents in care homes resolving issues of concern. Evidence is shown that older people can be unhappy in their care home, which can result in them wanting to move. The situation can often have been avoided with some early intervention/advocacy.

    Solution

    We will find information, discover what peoples options are and discuss these with the person.

    We will provide an Advocacy Service which is free of charge and confidential

    Success will be seen when the older person is happy with the outcome

    We are non-judgemental

    » We will respect the older person's views and ensure their views are presented.

    Success will be seen when the older person feels their point of view has been respected and their views known.

    We will listen to the older person's views

    Activities

    » We will listen to the older persons views and respect their wishes

    Success will be seen when the older person feels someone has listened to their views.


    Aim 4

    We will work with the older person

    Activities

    » We will work with the older person and help them to tackle their problems.

    Success will be seen when the older person feels we have helped them solve their problem.

    Age Uk Norfolk works with Care Homes across the Norfolk region.

    Beneficiaries

    Norfolk has an ageing population with many older people retiring to the area. It is a very rural county with areas of deprivation and isolation.

    this person will oversee the work of the volunteers, he/she will match up volunteers with older people needing help.
