  • Need

Many young people have no opportunity to gain work experience necessary to obtain references, practical experience and find a job. In addition many community groups are out of date with new digital approaches to promote the objects of their charitable endeavours.

By funding the training of young people, promoting and selecting appropriate community projects, placing young people with supervision to projects, project management, support and delivery, evaluation and signposting young people to further opportunities for paid work.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

To train and provide young people with opportunities to volunteer and gain work experience.

» The funding will provide staff, training and supervision support to young people.

Success will be...The number of young people training and supported into volunteering opportunities.

    Aim 2

To support community groups to develop new ways to promote their objects using new technology.

» Match young people with appropriate skill sets to those community organisations who require them.

Success will be...The number of community organisations who have been supported by volunteers to develop digital solutions to promotion.

  • Impact

More young people will have gained work experience, references and be signposted into paid jobs. A large number of community organisations will have an enhanced approach to promoting themselves using online and digital media solutions.

Main Risk - Lack of supervision and support for the young people.

Control - in the budget we have allowed for the costs of paid sessional staff for training, management and support / supervision.

    Why Us?

The is what the Youth Media Group was established to do. It has a proven track record from the past using funds from the Big Give Christmas Challenge / ReedFoundation and from Awards for All and has the trustees and contacts in place in order to deliver. It also has a knowledge of how to reach the young people who will be involved using national volunteering databases and local youth groups / workers. Our staff are highly trained and enjoy working with the young people they support.

My volunteering project with the Youth Media Group helped me make a film for a London charity. It helped me gain skills, confidence and now I have a job through a contact I made. Brilliant support and experience.
