Multi-purpose Community Center
To develop a multi-purpose center in a Zambian rural area to provide facilities to support our community development initiatives such as a pre-school, adult literacy, orphan feeding program, skills training, business development, and HIV/AIDS awareness projects.

Develop a multi-purpose community center
Activities» - Construct a building that can be used as a pre-school, a meeting area for seminars and presentations, and a place to feed orphans
» - Construct a second building to be used for skills training - carpentry, sewing, art and crafts, bicycle repair
» - Construct a third building to be used for a corn grinding mill and an agriculture supplies shop
Success will be constructing the necessary infrastructure to provide facilities to carry out the community development programs listed
Long term changes will be improved education, skills, business acumen and health to a target of 200 children and 300 adults in the community. The success of these will be demonstrated by improved literacy for children and adults, increase in economic activity and related income, improved health and well-being for orphans, and reduced incidents of HIV/AIDS
The only risk that can effect this project is not obtaining the necessary funding for the development of the center. However since there are three distinct buildings required each one can be constructed as the required funds are gathered.
Funders of this project will receive a quarterly email report, including photogrpahs, on the project detailing the ongoing and upcoming progress, and any changes that may have been made to the project plans. Updates will also be posted to our web site and Facebook page

The project is situated in Kakulu, a small rural community in Central Zambia located 200 km north of the capital city, Lusaka, and between the towns of Kabwe and Kapiri Mposhi.
The population of the community is about 4,000 people. With hardly any formal employment in the area most people survive on subsistence farming to provide themselves with food and a little extra to sell, and some small business activities to earn money. Thus the average family budget is about 50p per day. People in the community will benefit from our project by obtaining education, literacy and skills to improve economic activity and thus generate more income for themselves.
We have a team that has been working in the Zambian community for the past 5 years with a track record of successful construction projects and implementation of community development programs. Several of the programs targeted in this project are already under way but in existing facilities that are inadequate.
