Living to Care
Providing carers with a respite break that supports their health and well being.
June 2012 - June 2015
Charity information: ASNA
The Living to Carer project aims to solve the following problems and aims to :
Reduce the risk of social isolation experienced by carers
Reduce the risk of mental and physical ill health of carers who are at risk of ill health due to missed appointments and delayed diagnosis of serious illnesses
Increase access to information and resources often
By bringing carers together for peer support, carers will have a reduced sense of isolation and will feel that they are not alone.
By creating a carers network and providing carers with resources and information to support their role as carers, carers are less stressed at understanding what facilities are available to support them reducing the risk of ill health through stress and lack of personal care.
Supporting unpaid carers looking after people with long term illness or disabilities
Activities» Residential respite breaks for relaxation, peer support and spiritual support
» Information and support workshops to improve and support health and well being
» Telephone and face to face sign posting
What success will look like
Carers will express the benefits of the project for their health and sense of well being
Carers will feel revived and re-energised to care. Their health and wellbeing will improve resulting in long term benefits to their health and welfare for themselves and those they care for.
Carers will inform the charity about the effects of the project on their ability to care and the effects of those they care for through verbal and written feedback.
Funding sources. We have diversified the current sources of income and regularly monitor the fee we are recommending to attend ASNA Carers events. We are also diversifying the services provided for Carers that will help maintain the aims and objectives while working within the available resources.
Regular annual reports and newsletters, updated website and other social media.
