St Albans Organ Competitions 2014 and beyond
To provide funding for these world-leading competitions in 2015, and build an endowment fund to secure their future.
June 2014 - July 2015
Charity information: The International Organ Festival Society Ltd
The St Albans Organ Competitions are recognised as arguably the world's premier organ competition, providing a springboard for students as they move from their conservatoires into the profession. Many past winners of the competitions have have become world renowned organists at the top of the profession, and acknowledge a debt to the St Albans competitions.
The objective is to secure funding for these competitions, the associated festival and educational events.
Securing funding will ensure the future of the festival competitions. In addition they enrich and provide education within the artistic life of St Albans, alongside a Music & Arts Festival, and a regular annual series of Organ Recitals.
To secure funding for the 2015 St Albans Organ Competitions
Activities» Seeking donations and event sponsorship from individuals, trusts, corporates and local government
» Building membership of the Society and associated subscriptions
» Concert ticket and other sales
» Advertising revenue
Success will be raising required funds and allowing the competitions in 2015 to take place with no compromise on their established quality and reputation.
To build an endowment fund for long term funding of the competitions
Activities» Obtaining significant donations and legacies from individuals, trusts, and corporates.
Success will be achieving an endowment capital, easing the two year fund raising cycle, required to run the festival and competitions.
Not just continuance but enhancement of the competitions, but promotion of the arts (especially organ music) and musical education and appreciation at all levels.
The best evidence of the impact of the competitions is to follow the careers of prizewinners.
Access to fine arts and music in a local area assists the well-being of a community.
The recent financial climate, has made access to funding from trusts and other benefactors more difficult to achieve.
A number of members of the society and other donors offer to underwrite particular concerts and aspects of the festival and competitions, but this is not a sustainable funding model.
On request, on a 1-1 basis.
Annual Report to members, also published on Charity Commission website.
