Partners UK Core Funding Project
During 2014 we would like to focus on increasing the effectiveness of our organisation to ensure that we can continue to bring free, full lives for the children of Burma and meet the urgent needs of our current field programmes.
January 2014 - December 2014
Charity information: Partners Relief And Development UK
Burma has been torn apart by civil war for the last 60 years and its people held in the grip of a brutal dictatorship. Whilst the entire nation has suffered, the non-Burman ethnic groups have borne the brunt. The result has been the creation of large numbers of internally displaced and refugees among Burma's ethnic communities, many without food or shelter. Even in the midst of a reform process, the violence continues and we are currently responding to relief emergencies throughout the country.
Our purpose is to enable our programmes on the ground to provide emergency relief such as food, water, medical aid and shelter as well as providing long-term development solutions in agriculture and education. We work constantly in the UK to achieve this through fundraising and awareness raising activities.
To increase the efficiency and effectiveness of our UK office.
Activities» To continue to employ a National Director, who oversees all admin, finance, fundraising and awareness raising activity.
» To continue to build up our UK board with those committed to the cause and with skills and experience that will help the organisation to grow.
» To actively seek out volunteers willing to give of their time and talents to help with daily administration and accounting tasks.
What success will look like
Success will be...increased professionalism and competence within our organisation being shown through our reporting, communications and all other charitable activities.
To undertake activities to raise at least £50,000 for our relief & development projects overseas.
Activities» We will actively seek out at least five additional large donors and increase the number of applications we make for grant or trust funding.
» We will send out two direct mail appeals to our mailing list.
» We will continue to stay in regular communication with our supporters through social media, monthly emails and our bi-annual magazine.
» We will continue to encourage our supporters to undertake sponsored challenges.
What success will look like
Success will be...our end of year accounts showing at least £50,000 as having been transferred to our on the ground programmes based in Thailand and Burma.
To raise awareness of the situation in Burma and to effectively be a voice for those with none.
Activities» To continue to produce and distribute our social and print media to our mailing list, and make it available to a wider audience as appropriate.
» To undertake a month long tour around the UK, speaking at churches, school and support groups.
» To continue and build on relationships within other organisations and government offices to ensure the true story is being heard.
What success will look like
Success will be...not so easily defined or measured, but there will be an increased awareness of Burma in the UK, and hopefully greater steps of reform taken towards democracy.
Guaranteed core funding for one year will give us the freedom to mould and shape our communications and activities to a high standard which can then be built of over the years, rather than just having to make do with what we can afford at the time. The success of these changes will be demonstrated by greater amounts of funding being available and used for our on the ground programmes in Thailand and Burma.
Currently there are no great risks to this project. The National Director in place at the moment has committed to work for Partners Relief & Development UK for at least the next two years.
Whilst the current situation in Burma is changeable, the needs that our organisation seeks to meet are not going away any time in the near future.
Donors will be communicated to through monthly emails and our bi-annual magazine. If a donor would like more specific and regular reporting, that can be arranged through discussion with our National Director.

The people of Burma will continue to benefit from this project, It will mean greater resources for our programmes and in turn hope for a better future for those we work on behalf of.
We have been at the front line of relief work in Burma since 1997. We have a wealth of experience behind us and two well staffed and effective programmes offices based on the field. In the UK, we can be a current and passionate voice. Our National Director worked in Thailand overseeing our childcare programme before returning to the UK, so she also has great personal experience of the cause and the people Partners seeks to help.
