KPF Workshop & Activity Programme
The Katie Piper Foundation aims to make it easier to live with burns and scars. The Foundation runs workshops and social activities which provide an enjoyable, relaxed environment where people living with burns and scars can meet others, helping to build a network of peer support.
January 2013 - December 2013
Katie Piper Foundation
People with burns and scars can feel isolated and lack confidence. Few opportunities exist for people with burns and scars to meet others who share the same experiences.
Workshops and social activities provide the opportunity for people with burns and scars to give and receive peer support.
In 2013 we aim to hold at least one workshop/activity a month across the UK.
Activities» Identify suitable venues, organise volunteer practitioners and promote to potential attendees.
Success will be based on feedback from attendees and interest in future events.
Our aim is to develop a national peer support network which will allow those with burns and scars to live in a world where a person's scars do not limit their social inclusion or sense of well-being.
Working with a range of volunteer practitioners can involve a number of risks. We meet practitioners in advance and ensure that they have relevant qualifications and, where required, their own insurance. We inform our insurance broker of any new activities. We provide all practitioners with guidelines. At least 2 members of KPF staff (both with Enhanced CRB checks) supervise all workshops. We only invite a small number of attendees in order to provide adequate supervision.
We will report to donors via social media, E-newsletters, the Foundation website and the annual review.

The Foundation is in a unique position due to the profile of its founder, and CEO, Katie Piper. Katie is a burns survivor herself who has made a number of television documentaries and written two books. People with burns and scars identify with Katie's story and approach the Foundation for support.
Katie is the living embodiment of the Foundation's vision.
