  • Need

    Need

domestic abuse leaves victims isolated and afraid. Lack of education and work experience compounds their problems making it almost impossible for them to get off benefits and into work. Lack of confidence and self esteem are huge barriers to going to college or jointing other educational establishments. qualifications and work experience are crucial if victims of domestic abuse are going to be able to break the cycle of poverty and abuse.

    Solution

We will offer learning opportunities and work experience in a supportive environment where victims of abuse can gain the skills they need to gain paid employment and break out of the benefit trap. We will offer accredited training and volunteering opportunities that link to real life job rioles such as child care and administration.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

To offer training and work experience leading to paid employment

    Activities

» training and qualifications in childcare and administrative skills
» Voluntary work experience linked to the qualification being undertaken e.g. creche work

Success will be... victims of domestic abuse achieving qualifications, coming off benefits and starting paid work

  • Impact

    Impact

Victims of domestic abuse will feel safer and more confident, will attain qualifiations and obtain paid employment. We will measure how each person feels about their lives in nine key areas at the start, during and following the project. We will gather case studies and identify areas of success and learning.

    Risk

THere is a risk that women will drop out of the project. We will build in one to one support and clear learning outcomes to help avoid this. There is a safety risk to our clients because of their abusive partners, we will risk assess each person individually and develop a personal safety plan for each that is unique to their particular circumstances.

    Reporting

We will provide regular progress reports on an informal basis, quarterly outputs and impact assessments and case studies.

We use the outcomes empowerment star and will report on the nine key areas within that framework
