2013 is a landmark year for Aldeburgh Music as we celebrate the Britten Centenary.
Our ambitious celebrations include getting children and young people singing the same thing across the country at the same time on the same day.
To deliver our 2013 programme, we need to raise £1.5 million.

We need funds to realise our 'Friday Afternoons' project. A project that encourages schools, youth organisations and the wider community up and down the country the opportunity to sing, with access to support and free resources.
Starting on Friday 23 November 2012, this is a year-long, national singing project involving children across the UK. Working with arts organisations, the project will culminate on the Friday afternoon of Britten's Centenary itself - Friday 22 November 2013.
Our project will reach children and young people across the country by working in partnership with arts organisations, schools, Music Education Hubs and singers.
The project will launch in November 2012. This will be followed by a series of singing days, workshops and training sessions across the country and will culminate with events nationwide on 22 November 2013.

Success will be a year-long programme of engagement, culminating in tens of thousands of young people singing, not just on 22 November 2013, but beyond.
There is a need for ongoing opportunities for children and young people to sing. Friday Afternoons plays a part in increasing these, both through the immediate activity but also the legacy it will leave.
In addition we hope to create a useful and willing collaborative network between both the strategic partners and the delivery partners for future projects
There is a risk that not enough schools sign up or that schools drop out along the way with syllabus demands. We will have to deal with those hurdles as they occur, but we do have an incredibly persuasive project manager working on this already and the project is already gathering momentum.
We will keep donors regularly updated through our Friday Afternoons micro-site which will be going live in the Autumn and regular email updates on how the project is shaping up.

The project will be led and managed by a project manager here at Aldeburgh Music. The rehearsals, delivery and activity will happen regionally all around the UK
Mainly school children and young people regionally in their communities - along with singing leaders and teachers.
A further benefit will be the network collaboration of strategic partners, i.e. other arts organisations, county music services and local authorities
Aldeburgh Music has a proven track record in forging new, productive and ground-breaking partnerships between arts organisations, schools and communities and also of working in partnership, eg with County Music Services, Local Authorities and other organisations, ranging from Glyndebourne to the Youth Justice Board.
We are also extremely motivated to highlight to young people the more unusual and accesible works by Benjamin Britten to celebrate him in 2013.
