Cancer - Caring for the patient and their family
It is vital to the charity that we add as much comfort for our Cancer patients as possible; encompassing the well being of patients, families and carers.
We wish to raise £30,000 to create an opportunity to provide both additional specialist equipment and a variety of holistic care.
August 2013 - August 2014
Charity information: Dudley Group NHS Charity
The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust provide our Cancer wards and specialist cancer treatment departments with all the equipment, etc needed to treat our patients. However, further specialist equipment, additional to those purchased through the NHS, can be purchased by the charity. Also, simple items such as silent fans, tv/dvd's and visitors beds make such a difference to patients at such a distressing time. The charity also pays special attention to the needs of families and carers.
We will ask the associated departments and wards to supply us with a wish list of equipment, etc that they think would add benefit. The Charity Committee will decide on the most beneficial items and the final list can be made available to any prospective donors.
Demonstrating to patients that you care can make an enormous difference to their well being.
To ensure our Cancer patients, and their families, get the best support and treatment possible.
Activities» By providing specialist equipment for the diagnosis and treatment of cancer.
» By improving the environment in which our patients and their families spend their time with us.
» By improving our services offered to patients being treated in their own homes by our cancer specialist nurses.
What success will look like
Success will be equipment in place to aid speedy diagnosis and up to date treatment.
It will also be shown in the more comfortable and pleasant environment.
Dealing with cancer, for both the patient and the family, can be very distressing. we hope we can build on the great work our hospital has done to create an environment to help people cope, both emotionally and physically, with their illness.
A speedier diagnosis can make all the difference. But even the small touches will also improve patient experience.
There are no risks with this project.
We will keep an up to date list of requested equipment and items. A donor could donate to a specific piece of equipment or entrust us to direct their donation appropriately. A monthly newsletter can be provided to indicate where the money is being spent.
