A donation isn't just for Christmas it is for life
Helping to save lives in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly on Christmas Day by providing fast medical attention to those who need it
December 2012 - December 2012
Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust
Christmas is a busy time for us with bad weather making many roads in Cornwall simply inaccessible to land ambulances. In addition with our aging population, we see a spike in respiratory problems, for example breathing problems brought about through flu which can be fatal without a quick medical response.
Saving Time and Saving Lives
Cornwall’s Air Ambulance can reach any part of the county within 20 minutes, and the Isles of Scilly in 28 minutes. This dedicated purpose built and highly equipped aircraft flies at 140mph, and on average arrives on scene within 12 minutes of a 999 call.
To save lives on Christmas Day
Activities» Raise the necessary funds to cover the flying costs for the 10 hours the helicopter can fly on 25th December
Success will be ensuring that we can help anyone who needs our help on Christmas Day
We have been saving lives for 25 years and the sheer number of people we have rescued since 1987 is testament to how the county of Cornwall is in dire need of an air ambulance. Every year we need to raise £1.7m just to keep flying and support for this project will help towards this target.
If we are unable to fund our life saving missions we simply will not be able to fly in future. We are almost entirely dependent on the support of individuals, community groups and companies in Cornwall to keep us up in the air!
Funders of the project will receive a copy of our newsletter (if they wish) and we plan to hold a Big Give Supporter open evening and invite our supporters to see the helicopter they have helped to fund - and meet the paramedics who help to save lives

We are there at the point of need and free to anyone who needs help
Flying 365 days a year, Cornwall Air Ambulance has attended over 23,000 missions since it first took to the sky in 1987. The speed at which we are able to get our medically trained crew to the scene of an incident or medical emergency can literally be the difference between life and death. We can on average, be at the scene within 12 minutes from a 999 call. We are one of the busiest air ambulance helicopters in the UK, tasked to around 3 missions a day
