  • Need

There are 4 problems we are addressing:
    1) The all time record high for youth unemployment in the UK today
    2) The reported lack of essential social & communication skills needed in young people to operate within a work environment
    3) The mentality of some young people who feel the only way to succeed in life is through illegal means
    4) Tackling negative stigma the youth have adopted from problems such as gang culture & more recently the 2011 riots, which are psychologically holding them back

This project gives support to young people in terms of employment & further education. We believe that if we can get young people excited about working from a young age, they will be more likely to pursue a career true to their gifting and be motivated by the love of what they do instead of how much they can earn. We provide transferable leadership, team building, business, communication skills and mentorship & support; all in a fun & positive environment. Building self confidence is paramount .

  • Impact

Previous participants on our project have gone on to set up their own businesses, gained valuable higher levels of confidence to aid their growth, gained good - excellent qualifications, stopped engaging in anti-social behaviour, realised their career path, and genuinely become more focussed individuals. The project has especially aided the learning of our young people with Autism and learning difficulties.

The risks in our projects involve young people out in the community. All are aware of the code of conduct. Parents/guardians sign a consent form stating their knowledge of expectations of behaviour required from young people. Each session has a risk assessment produced. We ensure that we reduce any access to risks where possible. Procedure set out in our Health & Safety policy is followed. We use the government ratio of workers to young people plus volunteer staff. All staff have CRB's

We will report to donors through our website, annual report, the Grand Finale Awards Ceremony and invitations to visit the project.

  • Background

Our project takes place in various locations across London. We partner with other organisations (youth groups, churches etc) to deliver the project simultaneously. We operate in Clapham, Tufnell Park, Turnpike Lane, & Rayners Lane with more areas coming on board.

We are committed to working with all young people regardless of gender, ethnicity, ability or faith. The majority of the young people we work with are of African, Mixed & Caribbean heritage. They are mostly from low-income single parent families. This is reflective of the areas we work in. The project is for 14-19yrs, whom we feel are able to handle the fast pace of the project. Approx 5% of our participants are SEN. We work with NEETs. All our areas were affected by the 2011 riots.

  • Why Us?

    Why Us?

We have over 20 yrs combined experience of Youth work, Teaching, Mentoring. We have successfully been running this project & others across London boroughs since 2007 and have a good track record. Each year there’s a waiting list of young people wanting to participate in the project. We know our areas; we know young people, & how to tap into their 'world'. As products of the environments we work in, we have a deep understanding & burning passion to see the youth develop.
