Helping Third Sector Organisations and Volunteers

We help volunteers and charity organisations to connect by sourcing volunteers for charities to maintain or increase their services, and offer flexible and accessible ways to volunteer in London for both corporate groups and individuals. By making volunteering easy, we increase community engagement.

  • Need

Numerous charities across London are suffering from lack of funds and volunteer support. They are overstretched, understaffed and under resourced and so they need support from volunteers to fill this gap.
On the flip side, many individuals wish to 'give back' by volunteering but do not have the time to commit (>50%) or do not have the information to enable them to do so (17%). There is an increasing need for flexible volunteering to allow anyone to volunteer their time.

    (Data from NCVO)

We work to provide volunteers and support for over 140 charity partners across London for whom this extra capacity is vital. We endeavour to make volunteering flexible and accessible for individuals by organising projects and advertising a variety of flexible opportunities on our website and on social media. Individuals are free to join and support the charity of their choice.
Through this we raise aware of the charity's existence and help the individual to 'give back'.

  • Aims

    Aim 1

To Inspire and Empower volunteers to Be the Change they want to see.

» We identify flexible volunteering opportunities with charities, centralise information on our website and operate an easy online calendar to sign up.

    What success will look like

Success will be measured by counting monthly the number of new volunteers registering on our website and volunteers who sign up to each activity.

    Aim 2

Make volunteering in London flexible, accessible and convenient so as to increase volunteering

» We source volunteers for regular and one-off activities, work on existing projects, and create bespoke projects to meet community need.

    What success will look like

By counting the number of charity partners and activities that we are able to support, by monitoring the type of activities and receiving feedback from our charity partners.

    Aim 3

Encourage corporate social responsibility and philanthropy

» We organise corporate volunteering days, help staff use volunteering hours and help companies build strategic partnerships with charities

    What success will look like

By counting monthly the number of corporate volunteering requests we receive, new and repeat clients and the number of corporate projects we organise and carry out.

    Aim 4

    Enhance community cohesion

» Our volunteering projects boost individual and corporate engagement in the community, improve social awareness and build stronger communities

    What success will look like

By counting the number of volunteers, corporate projects, carrying out feedback surveys of volunteers and charities and by obtaining informal feedback.

  • Impact

It will improve community cohesion and Londoners’ engagement with deprived parts of society and struggling charities, it will promote volunteering in every day life, increase the use of volunteer skills in the third sector and increase corporate philanthropy.

Success will be demonstrated through our monthly metrics records e.g. the increase of new volunteers and regular/repeat volunteers, the increase in charity partners we support, and higher numbers of corporate CSR projects we organise.

Lack of funding - Our financial situation is monitored regularly to make sure that we do not go over our budget.
Volunteers unable to turn up to an activity due to illness or emergency- We would try to send a member of HandsOn London staff or a replacement volunteer to take the place of the absent volunteer.
Activity cancellations - We keep all communication lines with our charity partners and ensure both parties are well informed to avoid any misunderstandings and keep consistency.

We report publicly on our activity and supply updates to specific donors on request.

Countless people will benefit from our project; beneficiaries and service users include homeless people, the unemployed, women who have suffered from domestic violence, immigrants, asylum seekers, children, the disabled, those from other disadvantaged backgrounds, the environment and elderly.
Individuals who take up volunteering have access to a brilliant range of accessible and convenient ways to help people will also benefit. Companies able to volunteer thanks to our work also benefit.

  • Why Us?

    Why Us?

Our organisation has been successfully running for almost two years which demonstrates the strength of our charity in such a difficult economic climate. Not only are the number of volunteers (individuals and corporate) and charity partners that we work with increasing, but we often receive very positive feedback from our volunteers and partner organisations on the outcomes and support of the activities we help to provide at their centres.
