  • Need

    Need

Our current horse lorry vehicle is old, with high mileage and has become very unreliable.

Recently, we have been forced to hire vehicles to transport donkeys, but this is unsustainable and we are now desperate to have a reliable, working vehicle for emergency animal rescues, veterinary visits and educational bookings.

Most breakdown cover policies do not recover vehicles with large animals on board, so a reliable, working horse lorry is essential to our work.

    Solution

A new, reliable equine transport vehicle is vital to our work; in welfare cases an animal may need to be rapidly removed from dangerous or poor conditions.

During a medical emergency, when a sick donkey or horse needs to be rushed to the veterinary hospital, time is of the essence.

Transport is also invaluable in allowing us to attend events and educational talks with our sociable donkeys, which enable us to promote our charity and, importantly, continue our crucial educational outreach

  • Aims

    Aim 1

To be self-sufficient for the paramount welfare of the donkeys and that we rescue and care for.

    Activities

» We carry out various fundraising activities, including open days at our sanctuary, sponsored events and special appeals to our supporters.

Our charity will save vital funds if we do not have to continue hiring vehicles to transport animals and we will be able to act fast to rescue and attend to animals in need.

  • Impact

    Impact

We will be able to rescue animals promptly and administer veterinary care immediately when necessary.

Charity funds will also be saved in the long-term if we do not have to continue to hire vehicles or attempt to continue maintaining our current, unreliable horse lorry.

    Risk

There is a risk that we will not raise the required funds to purchase a new horse lorry.

We are constantly raising funds for our charitable work and we would look to seek other ways to raise the funds needed for this project.

    Reporting

We maintain regular contact with our supporters via our social media channels, newsletters, e-news, mail outs and our news articles on our website.

    Location

Our sanctuary site is located in open countryside near Penryn, Cornwall.

    Beneficiaries

We providing sanctuary and a safe home for life to donkeys, horses and various other animals rescued from situations of neglect, abuse and abandonment.

Many of the animals we rescue come into us in an extremely poor physical and psychological condition and require emergency treatment from vets, farriers and the equine dentist.

A new horse lorry will enable us to ensure equines in need are rescued from poor conditions and swiftly transported to the veterinary hospital as and when required.
